About Our Home Inspector![]() Donna was born in Fruita, Colorado, and lived much of her life in Lincoln, Nebraska, before moving back to Colorado, where we met. Donna has extensive experience in administrative management and customer service. She has also assisted in several handyman projects, so is fundamentally familiar with a home's construction. If she answers your call, you will be greeted by a warm friendly voice ready to make sure your questions and needs are properly answered. I grew up in Brooklyn, New York, in the fifties and sixties (condolences and congratulations are both cheerfully accepted). I saw our nation go through some uplifting and gut-wrenching times, such as our landing on the moon, and the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. In 1966, I enlisted in the U.S. Navy and became an Aviation Electronics Technician (AT). I served aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Hancock (CVA-19) off the coast of Vietnam on Yankee Station for 4˝ years as a metrologist (not meteorologist) until my honorable discharge in 1974. I truly appreciate our men and women in the military and emergency services who make often-unrecognized sacrifices to make our country and communities safer. Ron's Early CareerMy naval education propelled me into a civilian career as an electrical engineer, owning and operating a firm called “Pegasus Engineering”. For 25 years, I was on technology's cutting edge: I saw the development of the microprocessor, the first Apple computers, the first CD players, and more. My specialty was designing electronic circuits and systems, building prototypes, and testing and tooling them for production. I had to understand electronics, mechanics, materials, thermodynamics, production methods, and more. My philosophy was to engineer products that were simple yet elegant, and would continue to perform under duress when, by all rights, they should have failed. That uncompromising engineering discipline served me well as a handyman, and as a home inspector today. The electronics industry changed in the '90s to the point where there was little call for my services anymore. I turned my attention to photography and graphic design, and so did Donna. Together, we shot many award-winning photos and started Pulsar Graphic Design: a desktop publishing and graphic design company. I also taught Adobe Photoshop and digital photography at Cascadia Community College. This experience serves me today as an inspector in getting clear shots of your home's “areas of interest” and in publishing easy-to-read and informative reports. Transitioning into Home Improvement/
I was bitten by the home improvement/repair bug when our home's plumbing system developed an annoying “bladder control problem”. I ended up redesigning our plumbing system to be more expansive, configurable, and fail-safe in a crisis, inspired by my engineering background. From there, I couldn't get enough knowledge about homes: how they're built and how they work. I went on to be a handyman for over seven years, seeing nightmares in homes perpetrated by unskilled but well-meaning home owners and not-so-well-meaning contractors. |
